Were here – Alide + Felix
As part of the project ‘beyond books’ a book publication was created, that focuses on the communication of strangers using short messages smeared on toilet stalls. Mono- and dialogues from different stalls scattered all over Germany were arranged and combined. The publication was displayed in the ‘beyond books’ exhibition in Fellbach, Germany.
From there, the project caught the attention of the Finland Institute, located in Berlin. For the exhibition ‘Buchstäblich – die Vielfalt des Lesens’ (translates to: ‘Literally – the diversity of reading’) its medium was changed from a book to printed wallpaper, which was used to decorate the walls of the Institute’s toilet stalls. Using pens provided in the stalls, visitors could add to the existing messages, and continue communicating.
